Welcome to the 4th Latin American Dysphagia Congress (SLAD 2026) and the 1st IDDSI Latin American Festival.
Dear colleagues, healthcare professionals, and friends of the swallowing community,
We invite you to participate in the IV Latin American Congress on Dysphagia, which will be held from May 20 to 23, 2026, in Cancun, Mexico, hosted by Anáhuac Cancun University.
This meeting will bring together specialists, researchers, and therapists from across Latin America to share the most relevant scientific and clinical advances in dysphagia management. This edition will also host the 1st Latin American IDDSI Festival, a space dedicated to the practical application of international food safety and diet consistency standards, with workshops, demonstrations, and interactive activities. It will be a unique opportunity for professional development, presentation of research, strengthening of networks, and to enjoy an exceptional academic and human environment.

Step 1
Abstracts for independent papers should be submitted via the following links (research papers and clinical cases).
Guidelines for Submitting Research Papers
Deadline for abstract submission: 📅 Saturday, February 28th

Submit your abstract in your preferred language (Spanish, Portuguese, or English).

Specify whether it is basic or clinical research.

Specify the area of dysphagia addressed in your abstract: neurological dysphagia, dysphagia in head and neck cancer, dysphagia in the intensive care unit, pediatric and/or neonatal dysphagia, esophageal dysphagia.

For each author, include their affiliation, profession, city, and country.

The abstract should be no more than 300 words, including: introduction, objective, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion.

Make sure your research has been approved by an ethics committee, if necessary.

It is essential to obtain the free and informed consent of all patients included in the study.

Evaluation and Awarding of Free Papers
All submitted abstracts—both research papers and clinical case studies—will be evaluated by an international committee of reviewers, who will determine whether the work will be accepted as an oral presentation or a poster presentation during the Congress in Cancun.
All accepted abstracts, as well as oral and poster presentations, will be part of the free paper competition.
The oral presentations and posters presented during the Congress in Cancun will be evaluated again by an international committee of evaluators, who will award first, second, and third place in each category.
